The town of Altena (Westf.) is a public corporation. It is represented by the mayor Uwe Kober.

Information of the user

Every time a user accesses a page on the Altena Town Council website and every time a file is retrieved, data about this process is stored in a log file. This data is not personal; we are therefore unable to trace which user has accessed which data. In detail, the following data record is stored for each retrieval:

* name of the retrieved file * date and time of the retrieval * amount of data transferred * message as to whether the retrieval was successful * description of the type of web browser used * operating system used.

The IP address of the computer or the network address of the provider from which the request was sent is stored. However, personal user profiles cannot be readily created in this way. The data is not passed on to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes. The data is stored for one month.

Passing on your data

Your data will not be sold to third parties. We will not pass on any personal data without your consent.

Data protection

It is generally possible to use our website without providing personal data. If personal data (e.g. name, address or e-mail addresses) is collected on our website, this is always done on a voluntary basis as far as possible. This data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent.

We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

We hereby expressly prohibit the use of contact data published within the scope of the imprint obligation by third parties for sending unsolicited advertising and information material. The operators of the website expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam e-mails.

As a special service, Altena Town Council offers you the option of calling up numerous forms, filling them out, signing them and handing them to us in person or sending them to us by post. However, for some forms you can also use the convenient method of electronic mail via the Internet. No support for encryption

For various reasons, the town of Altena (Westf.) is not yet able to decrypt encrypted e-mails. If you wish to send us confidential information, please use conventional means of transmission (letter post or similar).

No support for signatures

According to § 3a of the Administrative Procedure Act, a written form prescribed by law can in many cases be replaced by the so-called "electronic form". Permitted file formats for file attachments ("attachments")

If you would like to send e-mails with file attachments to the administration, please note that the administration cannot support all file formats and applications available on the market.

The following file formats are processed in Altena: - Adobe Acrobat from version 5 to version 6 (pdf), - RichTextFormat (rtf), - Microsoft Word 97 (doc), - Microsoft Excel 97(xls), - Text (txt) - Image files (jpg, tif, bmp, png) - Compressed files (zip only) in each case without macros (this list is constantly updated). The following applies to all other formats: Your declaration is not legally received and is not legally binding.

If you use different file formats, the e-mail may not be processed.

Size limit for e-mails

The size of acceptable e-mails is limited to 2 megabytes.

Please use compression programs (zip format only) to reduce the size of any attachments so that data can be transferred quickly and efficiently.
